Mepilex Border is designed for a wide range of exuding wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg and foot ulcers, traumatic wounds (e.g., skin tears) and surgical wounds. Mepilex Border can also be used on dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels.

How long can you keep a mepilex on?

The Mepilex® Ag foam dressing can stay in place up to seven days. Only the outer dressing (gauze bandage) needs to be changed each day.

How do you dress a heel wound?

Elevate the heel or place the leg in a splint or boot that suspends the heel. If the ulcer has broken the skin (Stage II to IV), use a moldable dressing, such as a hydrocolloids, impregnated gauze, and gauze wrap, to keep it clean and moist.

Does Mepilex stick to wounds?

The wound contact surface of Mepilex is coated with a layer of soft silicone that does not stick to the surface of a wound or cause trauma to delicate new tissue upon removal.

Can you put Mepilex on open wound?

A combination of products may be the best choice. An alginate (KALTOSTAT) may be used to pack/absorb drainage in an open wound. If drainage is excessive, a foam (MEPILEX) may be added for even more absorption, cutting down on “nursing” time.

How do you bandage a pressure sore?

Keep the moist part of the bandage right down in the sore, placed loosely against the healing tissue. Cover the moist bandage with a dry bandage to help keep the sore clean and to keep the healthy skin around the pressure injury dry.

Can you shower with Mepilex?
